Colour Explanation

Colour

Red, yellow and blue are the primary colours. They are the main colours of the colour wheel.  Every other colour is made out of the primary colours. You add white to tint the colour and add black to make it darker. You add primary colours to make the secondary colours. By adding red and blue you make violet, by mixing yellow and red you make orange, by mixing yellow and blue you make green.

Secondary colours are colours made by mixing two primary colours. They are orange, violet (or purple) and green. When you mix primary and secondary colours they make Tertiary colours.

Tertiary colours are colours that are mixed by the secondary and primary. There are 6 tertiary colours they are red-orange, yellow-orange, yellow-green, blue-green, blue-violet, and red-violet. The colours get their name by mixing the colours its named. For example blue-violet is named that because when you mix blue and violet that is the colour it makes.

relax his students and

This is the colour wheel. The triangle in the middle those are the primary colours. The colours outside are the secondary colours and the whole entire circle is the colour wheel. So each colour is made up of a primary colour red, yellow and blue.

Plant And Research Science Visit

Plant And Research Science Visit

Yesterday we had a surprise visit by the Plant and Food  Research Scientists. They are responsible for making new Fruit and Veggies. Their names were Jacob, Laura and Lara. Class 5, 4 and 3 sat down as we waited for the Scientist to do there first experiment.
Well eventually we started the first experiment. They showed us Cabbage Juice, which was purple and then they explained what acid and base are. They said that the way to find and acid and a base is by any type of liquid in cabbage juice and finding what colour it turns. First they tipped vinegar and then it turned Red and so that means that Vinegar is and acid. Secondly they tipped Mr Muscle into another container with purple Cabbage Juice  it turned green so that means its a base.

After that Jacob had a box of dry ice and when he opened it fog came out of it. And next he had a bottle with warm water and dish washing liquid and put some dry ice in the bottle. The bottle started bubbling out lots and lots of bubbles. Jacob grabbed some bubbles and when they popped the bubbles had fog coming out of it.

On their last experiment they had Borax and super glue. They mixed it together and it made this slimy green gloop at first I thought it was a liquid but when it started to dry up it turned into a liquidly solid. So we had to guess if it was either a solid or a liquid. Everyone wanted a bit of gloop but the only way we could get some was by asking questions.

We had a few people ask scientific questions. And then other people ask questions not to do with the topic. But at the end we all had a good time and most of us got some gloop.

Term 3 Immersion Assembly

Term 3 Immersion Assembly
On the first day of term 3 we had a immersion assembly about the topic”Game on”. We had a discussion about the Commonwealth games. As we were all waiting Mr Jacobsen came down on a bike. He talked for a little and then Team 1 showed us there movie on the commonwealth. There movie was about the Queen talking about the commonwealth games. And then next was team 2.

Team 2’s movie was about the teachers competing in different sports. They were acting out Netball, Rugby and Athletics. And Ms Jarman acted out the Queen. She said a few words about the Commonwealth Games and then next was Team 3.

As Team 2 finished their movie we watched the Team 3 teachers walk on stage and watched their movie. Their move was about Rhythmic Gymnastics. They had girls with hula hoops dancing and leaping. Some girls had a ball on their shoulders and they were sliding it around their bodies. As soon as there movie finished they had lots of objects with them and they played the music and they did there own Rhythmic Gymnastics. We all had a laugh and then Team 4 had there movie.

Team 4 had the teachers doing potato sculpting challenge. they were representing Jamaica, Canada, India and Scotland. They had to sculpt a sculpture out of mash potato. It was really funny and they had a ref who was quite strict. She had disqualified Canada before it even started! In the end Jamaica won. And then Team 5 presented there movie.

Team 5’s movie was about the teachers going to other countries. Ms Paget went to Atlanta and saw the blue angels at a big beach that had 100,00 people there. Ms Clark went to New York and saw Kim Kardashian. Ms Squires went to Machu Picchu. And Mrs Nua went to Spain and watched her nephew race in a Motorbike race. And then at the end of the assembly we all had a great time and went back to class.

Sound

Future Aspirations.

This morning we had a special visit from 4 inspirational speakers. They taught us about what we want to do when we grow up. They said that we need to do what we love. There names were Jason, Alfred, Arizona and Andrews. They talked to us about what they do and they talked about what inspired them to do what they do.

The one that inspired me the most was Arizona. She told us that the teacher told her that she likes to talk so she should do communication. But the job she wants to do is to become a journalist. And she gave us five things to keep in mind and they were “Tahi, Do the Mahi (Work)  Lua, Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You. San (Three) Have some fun. Four Knock down the door and be confident and next Five Strive to stay alive.

This quote will help me by being more confident in finding a job I enjoy. My friends want to join the navy, at first I wanted to join the Navy only cause they did but now I want to do a job I want to do which is become a teacher.

My Holiday

My Holiday

On the first school holidays for this year, I spent my holiday with my Nan in Whangarei. I spent the holiday with her because I needed to help her move more of our stuff back down to Auckland. I spent the most of my days up there going to her job and helping her with the clients. My Nan works with people that have Alzheimers and Dementia. She takes her clients to Dargaville and Waipu.

So I went to her job for 3 days and helped her by setting up their activities and making them cup of teas. After he 3 last days of work her staff members held a ‘farewell’ party for her last day. There was a big “We will miss you” sign. On the table there were chips, dips and sandwiches.

After the party we went back to my Papa's house and her friend Angie came over with her and they did a crossword in the Woman's Day magazine. She brought her baby over and I played with her while they were doing their crossword. The day after that we packed our stuff and we said goodbye to the rest of our family in Whangarei and then we left to Auckland.

When we reached Auckland we unpacked our stuff and put it in the house and left it. My Nan left it there because she wanted to celebrate my Aunty Charmaine's birthday. Later that night all her friends came over and they had a party.

After that my Nan and I went and picked my brother up from Mangere and we had him for the weekend of the holidays. After that my Nan took him to Burger King and we went straight home and played on my cousins PS3.

The day after that me, my nan and my brother went shopping and had Pizza. Then we took him home. And this is what I mostly did for the Holidays.

Badminton

On Thursday morning at nine o'clock we went to the hall and we had Badminton. We walked to the hall as a class and we sat on the floor and waited for our lesson to start. When we walked in there, there was a lady and a man standing next to all the equipment. We sat on the floor and waited for our lesson to start.

The man introduced his self, his name was Robbie. Next he explained what we were going to do. After that we lined up to get us a racket. We stood around Robbie as he explains the different ways to hold the racket. The first thing he showed us was backhand he told us to hold the racket so the thumb was underneath the racket.

Then he showed us forehand he told us to hold the racket like you were shaking some ones hand. After that we lined up to get us a shuttle. We had to see how many times we can hit the shuttle while using forehand, later we had to see how many times we could hit it using backhand, and then we had to see how many times we could hit it doing both!

After a while we partnered up and we had a competition to see which pair could stay up the longest. I was paired up with Serenity. The winners were Taniela and Jabez.

Immersion Assembly

Immersion Assembly
This first day of term we had an assembly. We talked about a topic and that topic was “I like to move it, move it” Each team had a different thing to research about the topic. The first team to present their thing was team 1. They showed us a movie about the teachers from team 1 going to Auckland Zoo, and tomorrow the classes from team 1 are going to the Zoo tomorrow to find machines at the Zoo that are like things in our homes.

Next was team 2 and they talked about how planes fly and stay in the sky. They danced for us and on the projector behind them was a video of hot air balloons and jet planes flying in a V shape with smoke coming out of them.

After that was team 3 they talked about colors, the teachers in team 3 were wearing different colors. They explained how we can see colors. They showed us an example of how it works, they told Mr. J to put a green cape on. She told all the colours (teachers) to run to Mr. J and she said that all the colors soak into the cape except green, green bounces of the cape and thats how we know the cape is green.

Then they explained the color black, they said none of the colors soak into anything black so there is no color for us to see. Thirdly she explained  the color white. She said that all the colors soak into anything white and thats why its that color.
Lastly she asked us a question and that question was ‘What color is a Banana when its in the dark?
Fourthly was team 4 they explained how things float and sink and the keywords they said were ‘Displace’ and ‘Buoyancy’.

Last was team 5, their focus was sound. They had instruments they made themselves and they made a video clip of them playing instruments and dancing. And our class has to make our own instruments and our own music video.

So this is the topic for this term. And I hope I learn more about sound.

Fia Fia 2014

FiaFia 2014

This term we had FiaFia. Every Thursday we would get into our groups and practice our dance. I was in Senior Hip Hop. Every time we had a practice I kept getting excited for our group to perform. We started by choosing a song. After that we started choosing our wonderful Hip Hop moves and from there we kept trying harder and harder to get it perfect.

We had Mele to do our dance moves she was a great dancer. After we had chosen our dance moves we decided what we were going to wear. At first we were going to wear yellow tops with blue pants or jeans so we could look like minions from the movie Despicable Me. We wanted to look like that because we were dancing to the song “Happy” from Pharrell Williams.

But then we decided to wear anything we wanted. After we had everything sorted we waited for our school rehearsal. Our whole school practised performing for Fia Fia night. When it was our turn to perform in front of the school I started shaking. But when I got on stage I stopped shaking and tried to dance as great as I could. The next day was the actual day of the Fia Fia.

On that day we all had to practise once again group by group and have one more meeting with our group before the actual performance later that day. After school I went home and got dressed into my clothes.

Excitedly I walked through the doors at the front of the school smelling the food. I smelt hangi, sausages, chips and different other types of food. I sat at a seat and waited for my friends to come. I sat there watching the people come in with their families buying food and then waiting for Mr. Burt to tell us to go to our changing rooms.

As soon as Mr Burt told us to leave to changing rooms  I ran straight to Class 12 and waited for Ms Paget or Ms King to open the doors. As she opened the door we went inside and had a talk after that we had Ms Paget put a movie on for us. A few minutes through the movie we heard Mr. Burt call us to walk to the field.

First was Senior Kapa Haka next after that was Junior Kapa Haka thirdly was Bollywood and then fourthly was my group. As we watched Bollywood we went behind the stage and waited for their performance to finish. A few moments later we heard our song play, we ran on stage and danced.

The lights were really bright and we couldn’t see the audience. When we were performing we all looked nervous. But as we kept going I could tell everyone was enjoying it. As soon as we finished dancing we ran off stage and went back to our spot and watched the rest of the other performances.

After we had all the performances we went back to our changing rooms and waited for our parents to come pick us up. In the end the FiaFia was a great success and we all did well.
