Immersion Assembly

Immersion Assembly
This first day of term we had an assembly. We talked about a topic and that topic was “I like to move it, move it” Each team had a different thing to research about the topic. The first team to present their thing was team 1. They showed us a movie about the teachers from team 1 going to Auckland Zoo, and tomorrow the classes from team 1 are going to the Zoo tomorrow to find machines at the Zoo that are like things in our homes.

Next was team 2 and they talked about how planes fly and stay in the sky. They danced for us and on the projector behind them was a video of hot air balloons and jet planes flying in a V shape with smoke coming out of them.

After that was team 3 they talked about colors, the teachers in team 3 were wearing different colors. They explained how we can see colors. They showed us an example of how it works, they told Mr. J to put a green cape on. She told all the colours (teachers) to run to Mr. J and she said that all the colors soak into the cape except green, green bounces of the cape and thats how we know the cape is green.

Then they explained the color black, they said none of the colors soak into anything black so there is no color for us to see. Thirdly she explained  the color white. She said that all the colors soak into anything white and thats why its that color.
Lastly she asked us a question and that question was ‘What color is a Banana when its in the dark?
Fourthly was team 4 they explained how things float and sink and the keywords they said were ‘Displace’ and ‘Buoyancy’.

Last was team 5, their focus was sound. They had instruments they made themselves and they made a video clip of them playing instruments and dancing. And our class has to make our own instruments and our own music video.

So this is the topic for this term. And I hope I learn more about sound.
