Colour Explanation

Colour

Red, yellow and blue are the primary colours. They are the main colours of the colour wheel.  Every other colour is made out of the primary colours. You add white to tint the colour and add black to make it darker. You add primary colours to make the secondary colours. By adding red and blue you make violet, by mixing yellow and red you make orange, by mixing yellow and blue you make green.

Secondary colours are colours made by mixing two primary colours. They are orange, violet (or purple) and green. When you mix primary and secondary colours they make Tertiary colours.

Tertiary colours are colours that are mixed by the secondary and primary. There are 6 tertiary colours they are red-orange, yellow-orange, yellow-green, blue-green, blue-violet, and red-violet. The colours get their name by mixing the colours its named. For example blue-violet is named that because when you mix blue and violet that is the colour it makes.

Plant And Research Science Visit

Plant And Research Science Visit

Yesterday we had a surprise visit by the Plant and Food  Research Scientists. They are responsible for making new Fruit and Veggies. Their names were Jacob, Laura and Lara. Class 5, 4 and 3 sat down as we waited for the Scientist to do there first experiment.
Well eventually we started the first experiment. They showed us Cabbage Juice, which was purple and then they explained what acid and base are. They said that the way to find and acid and a base is by any type of liquid in cabbage juice and finding what colour it turns. First they tipped vinegar and then it turned Red and so that means that Vinegar is and acid. Secondly they tipped Mr Muscle into another container with purple Cabbage Juice  it turned green so that means its a base.

After that Jacob had a box of dry ice and when he opened it fog came out of it. And next he had a bottle with warm water and dish washing liquid and put some dry ice in the bottle. The bottle started bubbling out lots and lots of bubbles. Jacob grabbed some bubbles and when they popped the bubbles had fog coming out of it.

On their last experiment they had Borax and super glue. They mixed it together and it made this slimy green gloop at first I thought it was a liquid but when it started to dry up it turned into a liquidly solid. So we had to guess if it was either a solid or a liquid. Everyone wanted a bit of gloop but the only way we could get some was by asking questions.

We had a few people ask scientific questions. And then other people ask questions not to do with the topic. But at the end we all had a good time and most of us got some gloop.

Term 3 Immersion Assembly

Term 3 Immersion Assembly
On the first day of term 3 we had a immersion assembly about the topic”Game on”. We had a discussion about the Commonwealth games. As we were all waiting Mr Jacobsen came down on a bike. He talked for a little and then Team 1 showed us there movie on the commonwealth. There movie was about the Queen talking about the commonwealth games. And then next was team 2.

Team 2’s movie was about the teachers competing in different sports. They were acting out Netball, Rugby and Athletics. And Ms Jarman acted out the Queen. She said a few words about the Commonwealth Games and then next was Team 3.

As Team 2 finished their movie we watched the Team 3 teachers walk on stage and watched their movie. Their move was about Rhythmic Gymnastics. They had girls with hula hoops dancing and leaping. Some girls had a ball on their shoulders and they were sliding it around their bodies. As soon as there movie finished they had lots of objects with them and they played the music and they did there own Rhythmic Gymnastics. We all had a laugh and then Team 4 had there movie.

Team 4 had the teachers doing potato sculpting challenge. they were representing Jamaica, Canada, India and Scotland. They had to sculpt a sculpture out of mash potato. It was really funny and they had a ref who was quite strict. She had disqualified Canada before it even started! In the end Jamaica won. And then Team 5 presented there movie.

Team 5’s movie was about the teachers going to other countries. Ms Paget went to Atlanta and saw the blue angels at a big beach that had 100,00 people there. Ms Clark went to New York and saw Kim Kardashian. Ms Squires went to Machu Picchu. And Mrs Nua went to Spain and watched her nephew race in a Motorbike race. And then at the end of the assembly we all had a great time and went back to class.
